Course Content

You will either be given an open water crewpack at commencement of the course or given online access to your course materials. You'll work through the relevant chapters hand in hand with your pool training sessions. Typically the course is conducted over a minimum of
five consecutive weekly training sessions, where we go over some theory before we get in the water to progress for an hour each week. However, we do over condensed courses too, get in touch!

On completion of our pool dives, we move on to the open water phase and we ideally use sites either in Pembrokeshire or along the stunning Gower Peninsular. If sea conditions dictate, we can also use the National Dive Activity Centre at Chepstow, a quarry filled with lots of submerged vehicles and aircraft for the last two days of the course but we are very passionate about getting our divers to 'earn their fins' in the sea. At these locations we conduct four dives in open water over two days, normally at the weekend in order for you to qualify as an open water diver.

We can also conduct the whole open water course over a four day period.

Perhaps you only wish to do the pool sessions and theory with us and complete the course abroad with another centre? - We can do this too, see below!

Minimum age is 10 and those under the age of 15 are awarded a Junior Open Water certification

(maximum depth of 12 metres), which is automatically upgraded when 15.

You’ll need to be able to swim just eight lengths of a 25m pool with no time limit and to tread water for 10 minutes during the course.
