PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Speciality

Digital has taken the underwater photography world by storm. Get in on the action with the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Speciality course. You can quickly and easily capture the underwater world with your camera and on your computer. During the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty course, you learn to use the PADI SEA (Shoot, Examine and Adjust) method, which takes full advantage of digital technology. The result is good underwater photos faster than you may imagine. You not only learn how to take good photos, but how to share them with your friends via email or printing, optimising your work with your computer, storage and more.

Pre-Requisites

Minimum age is 10 and students must hold a PADI Open Water Diver or hold a similar qualifying certification from another training organisation. Students must also fill out a PADI medical questionnaire prior to participation.

Course Outline

The course consists of a knowledge development session and three open water scuba dives over two days. Subjects covered include:

  • Choosing and using modern digital cameras and underwater housings
  • Using the PADI SEA method for getting great shots quickly
  • Editing and sharing your pictures
  • The three primary principles for getting good photos underwater

Knowledge Development

Knowledge development is based on a self-study method, allowing you to study in your own time, at your own pace prior to attending a theory session where you will learn how to use your camera underwater and how to take care of it after the dive. During this session we will also complete your knowledge development prior to diving.

Open Water Dives

Prior to diving at open water we allow you an opportunity to practice what you have learnt at one of our pool sessions absolutely free of charge. Preferably we prefer to conduct the course at Martin’s Haven in West Wales which is located in the Conservation area in West Wales which is rich in an abundance of sea life!

Course Duration

One theory session followed by one pool session (optional) and one open water dive.

How much is it and what is included?

The course costs £150 and includes the following:

  • PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Diver Manual
  • Tuition
  • PADI Certification fee

What is not included?

Travel to and from the training locations is also your responsibility, but we are very accommodating and normally have spare seats in one of our vehicles if travelling to West Wales!

What happens next?

If you wish to qualify as a PADI Digital Underwater Photographer you might wish to consider that buoyancy is key to your success. Therefore, the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course is certainly a vital addition further allowing you to get that right shot whilst protecting the underwater environment.
