Gower diving | Swansea diving | Wales diving

Bay Divers main scuba diving sites are along the stunning Gower coast, the UK's first area of natural outstanding beauty. The scuba diving, conditions permitting, can be awesome. The Gower coast is just outside Swansea and only about 40 minutes from Cardiff. However, we have one of the highest tidal ranges in the world and this combined with adverse weather conditions and big swells mean you must plan your dive carefully. Bay Divers have a couple of closely guarded secrets but the main Gower and Swansea diving sites we use are detailed below:

Limeslade Bay Scuba Diving, Gower

Limeslade Gower Scuba Diving Limeslade Bay is just around the corner from Mumbles pier and is a lovely sheltered spot for diving. In our opinion, this site is one of the best scuba diving sites along the entire south Wales coastline. Predominantly south facing it is quite exposed to the prevailing weather conditions and it is therefore strongly advised to dive this site with someone with local experience. On or around high tide, the beach comprises of pebbles and rocks but drops off rapidly giving good depth early. Lots of sandy patches and dramatic rock drop offs, visit this beach at low tide and it will give a good appraisal of what to expect. We find an abundance of sea life in this area when scuba diving from Blue Conger to Sea Bass and even the odd seal!

If the weather is good, we run our intensive open water courses in Limeslade Bay, Mumbles (Swansea). With the rather lovely Castellmare Italian restaurant just a few yards away our students can run over to get pizza and chips for dinner!

Langland Bay Scuba Diving, Gower

Langland Gower Scuba Diving A popular beach amongst tourists and locals alike, Langland is a great surf location and when the big swells are not around it can be a great scuba dive offering a vast and interesting bottom composition and sea life to match. Langland has a great restaurant built practically on the beach - you could dive and then have a 5 star meal! At the other end of the beach there's a cafe selling hot drinks and food. There are 2 large car parks only 50 yards from the beach, so not too far to carry your kit. Car parks are pay and display - don't be tempted to risk it - the council are keen on checking this one!

Oxwich Bay, Gower

Oxwich Gower Diving A very busy and popular beach with tourists and sailors alike, we find Oxwich a great training location for those learning to scuba dive. It offers fantastic shelter from the prevailing weather conditions due to its south-east facing aspect and is the most benign bay along the Gower peninsular. This means that we can scuba dive this location when others are a no-go and is absolutely suitable for many components of courses we run, from open water course through to Rescue diver course not to mention many of the speciality courses we run, such as search and recovery. There is also a great wreck at Oxwich point - The Solar. Due to boat and occasional jet-ski traffic it is vital that divers use their SMBs. Oxwich is about 20 minutes from Swansea.
